Perth Zimfest 2011

Hello Zimfest Fans and soon to be fans!I have some exciting news, drum roll please……….the venue is booked, the main bands are locked in and the date scheduled. For those of you who would like to know more please read on.

Zimfest is for those who are culturally curious about Africa’s elusive charm and want to experience it first hand in Australia. Kicking off at 12:00pm on November 5th, Point Walter Reserve will be the grand setting for this year’s event. People of all ages, cultures and nationalities are invited to celebrate and immerse themselves in African activities, food and entertainment.A variety of international and homegrown performers will ensure that the stage is set for the most entertaining festival yet! Top Southern African artists Just JinjerWatershed and Tinashe as well as death defying acrobats ZimboyZ are sure to have you thigh slapping, two stepping and possibly even fist pumping throughout the day.

Just Jinjer’s sound has been described as powerful and alluring; touching the heart, mind, body and soul. Combining cerebral lyrics with melodic beats, it is no surprise they have become South Africa’s largest selling rock band with three albums reaching gold status.

Watershed are first class citizens in the music world, blending heartfelt lyrics and aesthetic production to create deeply emotional sounds. Their hauntingly beautiful ballad Indigo Girl has cemented them in the international music scene, earning them a place in Germany’s Top Ten music charts.

Adults and children with a competitive streak can participate in the organised touch rugby competitions. For the more relaxed indiviuals, there will be a variety of stalls selling African merchandise, food and beverages. The tranquil setting will be the perfect opportunity to kick back and enjoy some lekka food, drinks and good humour with your mates.

This festival is not without good cause, donating a significant proportion of the proceeds to African charities. This year Perth Zimfest is teaming up with Eighty Twenty Vision and Environmental Africa to raise much need awareness and funds for the African environment and community.

So dust off your dancing shoes for a good cause and come ‘flick hoof’ African- style at Point Walter Reserve. You have to be at the biggest African ‘Dhindindi’ of the year! For more information and tickets visit our website or facebook page
